Cosnefroy: "When your rival is stronger, there’s nothing else to do but salute him"

Benoit Cosnefroy : “I did the race I want to do. There wasn’t much of an opening in the finale and I ended up battling it out with a rider who’s stronger than me in the sprint. I was disappointed when I crossed the line not to bring the victory to the team after they worked brilliantly for me all day long. But when your rival is stronger, there’s nothing else to do but salute him. That’s the way it is. Romain Bardet propelled me in the first climb. We improvised it. We wanted to enter the vineyard tracks in a good position to be able to weigh on the race. The team positioned us and then I told Romain: ‘let’s go early!’ Others followed, and I went again in track, that’s how we got away. I knew the first track would decide the scenario.”
