Christophe Laporte (Visma|Lease a Bike): "We fought to get back into the race. We got into the final, (Stefan) Bissegger started the sprint and I didn't have much left in my legs; I was even cramping. I didn't really believe it and at the end I saw that everyone was going all out. I wanted to get out of the saddle, but I couldn't with the cramps. I thought I could come back, but I couldn't. Matteo was strong; he deserved his victory today. We had complete control, then we lost all control of the race. I was all alone; there were a lot of attacks. I focused on Lidl-Trek. I tried to keep myself out of the race. I didn't have much choice. You have to know how to step back a little and lose control a little. I rode well. But I was a bit short of it for the sprint. It's a real shame. But I'm really happy with the way I rode, with the level I'm at now. If someone had told me that a few months ago I could get this result, I would have signed for it straight away."
